Self-Compassion Over Self-Criticism

Beating yourself up for mistakes rarely leads to lasting improvement.

Research shows that self-compassion [treating yourself with the same kindness you’d offer a friend—actually increases motivation and resilience. So, next time you mess up, try saying, “That was tough, but I’m learning.” There are many different sentences you could use in lieu of this one.

At the end of the day, just avoid making excuses or blaming others, and instead, focus on sincere actions within your control that could change the outcome of the situation next time.

Notice if and how this shifts your energy.
