Treatment-Resistant Depression
When depression doesn’t improve with standard therapy or medication, it’s often labeled treatment-resistant. This doesn’t mean recovery is impossible. It means a more tailored, layered approach is needed. Options may include medication changes, trauma-informed therapy, lifestyle interventions, or newer treatments like rTMS or ketamine-assisted therapy. Persistence, collaboration with providers, and compassion toward yourself are essential. Treatment-resistant depression is not a personal failure—it’s a signal that care needs to be adjusted.
